So just about every night this week, I have made no direct plans and had the idea I would be staying in for the night and every night this week, I have NOT stayed in! Which if you know me, you know I am totally okay with that! Last night, I had tried a new pinterest recipe--Crockpot chicken tacos! It was delightful and I highly suggest trying the recipe--so easy and so flavorful! What an easy dinner! So normally when I cook, I am home, but last night my friend CJ and I decided to go for drinks! A nice end to a long-ish week! So my night in, turned into drinks on the Patio at Bailey's and it was fabulous! Who knows what this weekend will hold???
Vodka Tonic!
Cranberry Vodka!
Also you should totally check out my earrings (Hokie Pride) cause my super awesome friend Kristi MADE them for me! I really am one lucky girl :)
So if you know me at all, you know I love to get (and give) little gifts! It is one of my love languages, so sue me! Well on Sunday, my adorable mother got me this:
Hokie Bird Loofah!
How adorable is that? She said it was the start to my birthday celebration! Well I could not resist sharing it! In other news, I also got a shellac manicure done with my friend, Emily, on Sunday--it was a fantastic end to a fantastic weekend and now my nails will look pretty for the next 2+ weeks :)
And I do think I forgot to mention about my awesome shirt that Kristi and CJ made for me for my birthday celebration to see the Legwarmers:
It is pink, glittery, and says Birthday Girl!
Feel free to be jealous, I know I am blessed beyond measure :)
Sorry was I screaming that title? I am still recovering the hearing in my ears after Friday night's concert. It was AWESOME (there I go again with the screaming). Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I will limit my words and share many many pictures with you all! Enjoy :)

Cyst removal....CHECK! It is finally over but now I am on a 10 day antibiotic because apparently it was pretty infected, turns out this one was about 4 times as big as my last one--whoops I let that go too long I suppose. So consequently, it is quick a bit more painful this time around and I have a nice concave spot on my head, UGH! My brother took a picture if you are interested, but I will refrain from posting it on the blog to spare the weak stomachs out there. But all of that aside, today is so awesome because it is the LEGWARMERS!!!!! I cannot tell you how excited I am for this :) Pictures to come, no doubt!
Really who are we kidding, if you know me, you know I have been counting down for weeks already now! 2 days until I get my cyst removed....YES this needs to be on here, cause after that heals I can finally get my hair cut! 3 days until the LEGWARMERS 14 days until my Birthday (I have not yet decided to be excited about this or not) 17 days until I get to spend a weekend with some of my favorite ladies from VT 39 days until my next vacation!!! 58 days until the beach for a long weekend with the family! 140 days until Christmas (yup, I just went there!) In other news, my reading has totally been sidelined. I do not know what I have been doing, but I can tell you what, it has not been reading! I will have to pick my book back up here soon!
When my dad bought a marina? Yeah well that just happened last week. Being the obstinate daughter that I am, my first thought was "Is this man crazy?" "Why would he do such a thing?" "I cannot believe at 60+ years old, he thinks this is a good idea!" Well enough with the negativity, Laura. This weekend, I got to see what my dad saw in this marina community and now I can say, I trust his judgement in this purchase.
First off, the drive in, was one beautiful ride...I always forget how pretty the mountains are, and believe me, they are much prettier in person than on my camera!
Country Road....take me home....to the place I belong!
Showing up at the marina, I instantly feel in love with the community of people there; the attitudes, the love for such a small little landmark, and the joyful and thankful personalities of all the people there was amazing to see. We first got to meet the managers of the marina: Todd and Donna, instantly I feel in love with both of them and they wanted all of us to really see and experience this humble place for what it is--a joyful and happy get away.
The 'pet' carp!
Smith Mountain Dock---very vintage!
The View!!!
The boats!
The Vibe! Everyone is your friend :)
One of the apparent traditions is to feed the carp with popcorn and to put peanut butter on your toes and let the carp suck it off. I found that i was a little skiddish about my toes, but I quite enjoyed them sucked on the heel of my feet. Here is a video (sorry it is sideways) of the swarm of carp that come when food is involved (I asked one of the guys there to get a video of the carp sucking on my feet, but it did not turn out...so next time I will have to re-do that!).
We also got to see the SML Dam:
The whole reason the Lake was made: Hydro-power!
And then went on a boat ride around the lake to see some of the prettier houses:
This house was designed by a cathedral architect. And the picture does not do it justice, the tree is covering a lot of the house, it was HUGE!!!
We were a little far away!
And then a few scenery pictures:
National Park--so no one can ever build on that mountain!!!
view from the back of the boat!
All in all, a fun trip! Next weekend is the BIG grand Re-opening of the Marina, so I may have to hit that up as well :)
In exactly ONE WEEK, I will be going to the Legwarmers concert with some of my most favorite people. There will be lots of 80s music, 80s clothes, and LOTS of dancing! I cannot wait!!!
