New goals, how goes it?

Since we are at the half way point of the year, lets take a check in on my goals for the new year!

New Year, new Goals...how is it going?

* Get back to my goal weight by my birthday...I am about where I am at the year's beginning, so this is not going to happen by my birthday but by my cruise in November!

* Study and take my Series 65 exam....no progress here yet!

* Get out of debt: am on point to paying off my car in the next couple of months (that will be almost 3 years ahead of schedule--woot woot)!  Other than that, everything else is done!

* Plan and take our 8 states in 7 days trip: Ummmm DUH!  Planned and taken but it became 13 states in 10 days!

* Commit to LESS: Killing this one some weeks and others I suck at it; it all just depends on the week!  I would say I am definitely succeeding in this but could still do better!

* Cook a meal for a family/friend at least twice a month: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December

Baltimore Weekend!

So this past weekend, I made the trek up to Baltimore.  I saw trek because it really was this time, my normal 3 hour drive ended up taking me almost 5 hours because of weather and traffic!  But it was worth it to get to spend the weekend with a few of my favorite people!

Since Amanda and I both left after work on Friday, we did not make it to Baltimore until about 10-10:30.  So we were all pretty exhausted by the time we got there, so we just chatted for a bit and headed to bed.

Saturday morning we slept in (until about 8:30!), then got up and slowly got ready.  Sara opened her belated birthday gifts and Peanut found himself a little present of his own:

Cat in a box!

Next it was out for some Hampden shopping!  We stopped in our favorite store, Trohv and spent a good bit of time looking around at all the fun stuff and ohhhing and ahhing at the store displays:

Kites!
Spools!

Then it was off to the Hon shop, where the girls tried on some stylish hats:

Then after lunch and some more shops, we came back home to relax for a few minutes in the air conditioning before deciding what to do next!
Peanut getting some love

Just relaxing!

We then decided, why not do more shopping, so off to the outlets we went!  Taking in downtown Baltimore on our way there!
Go Ravens!

Go Orioles!

Oh Hey Inner Harbour!
After exhausting ourselves on shopping, we grabbed a quick dinner then headed back to Sara's house where Erica had to say her goodbyes.

After Erica left, a few of Sara's friends came over to hang out before bed! Then we were up entirely too early on Sunday to go to the Baltimore Farmer's Market!

Fresh Veggies!
Afterwards we picked up some Berger Cookies, a Baltimore staple and Amanda and I were both on our way home!
Goodbye Baltimore, until next time!

Crib Bedskirts---worth the money!

So every time I do a DIY project, I ask myself, is this worth the money or would I do it again?  Well turns out crib bedskirts are probably worth that $20 that you are shelling out to buy one pre-made.  After probably $12 in fabric costs and an additional 4 hours+ working on the dang thing, this is what I got to show for it:

Cute, yes!  But if you can guess that this would sell close to $20, that means my hourly charge is just about $2/hour--Not even close to minimum wage!  So, it turns out, I will stick to my day job and not go into the crib bedding industry (does such a thing even exist?)

Alas, if this fits the crib and assuming everything comes together, tune in sometime the week of July 10th for an update on the twins new bedroom (which I am going to help my sister with next weekend!)

King Brutus or Brutus King?!?!?

And because this little guy has not gotten much screen-time here lately...Brutus just wanted to pop in and say "Hello!" and really to show you all just how much of a cutie he really is.....

Cutest Boy in the World Award!

If they were giving an award for the cutest boy in the world, I think Corbin would win it, hands down (and I am not biased or anything, so I should totally be the judge)!  Just look at the expression on his face when he sees the cookie I sent home with Tiffany---what a cute face and what a great surprised expression!  Thanks Josh & Tiffany for capturing the memory for me!!!

Crafting

So I enjoy a lot of things---reading, traveling, cooking, hanging with friends, trying new things, sleeping :)  But when I get free time (which is rarely), I do enjoy a good craft project.  Thus, when my sister asked me to make crib beskirts for the new babies, I was up for the challenge.  Last night, since I did not have anything else planned, I got started:

First bedskirt about 2/3 of the way finished.  I just have to put the two smaller sides on it!

Also, since I am going to Norfolk next weekend and my little cutie nephew loves him some Cars--particularly Lightning McQueen and Mater (for reference, he wants to name the twins after his two favorite cars, the proof is here!  So alas, with the scraps from the bedskirt and with some Cars fabric, I am working on a little surprise for him too!

I better win the favorite Aunt award!

So that is what I have been up to so far during my "down time" this week!  What do you enjoy doing?  Do you craft when you are bored?
