The Juice Joint Line Up

Reading Update for March

I am well below where I was last year, and I am fine with that!  Last year, reading became more of a chore and now it is really for fun again.

1. Because I said so by Ken Jennings (read in February)
2. Mary Mary by James Patterson (finished 3/11/13)--Always love a James Patterson and thanks to my delayed flight I was able to finish it yesterday in the airport.  This was not my favorite but still really good!
3. The Devil in the White City (started 3/12)

On the list to read:
4. Private London, by James Patterson
5. Gone Girl
6. Private Berlin by James Patterson
7. I am open to other suggestions from everyone :)
8.
9.
10.

Gryffindor

I think we can all see where I would be confused, it totally looks like it is supposed to be an animal (or Dragon), not a school!

Florida here we come...

Thus starts my trip to Universal, Orlando this weekend with my friend, Amanda.  I really need to get more excited about Harry Potter if I keep going back there.

(In reference to Amanda's Facebook post):

me: ummmm what is a Hufflepuff?

Amanda: lol
you really don't know much about harry potter!
Do you know that Harry, Ron, and Hermione are part of Gryffindor?  That's their house within Hogwarts

me: ohhh nope

Amanda: There's also Slytherin House
Ravenclaw House
and Hufflepuff House

me: I think I figured gryffindor was a dragon or something

1920s style decorations!

So this past Saturday, my friend CJ and I hosted our first murder mystery dinner.  I think it was quite successful (pictures of the event will be in a later post).  But in order to get ready for it there was lots of decorating and transforming my tiny house into a hopping juice joint.

The juice Joint curtain.  This was made with thread and glitter paper in gold, silver, and black.  I simply cut out circles and taped two sides to the thread.

Cute signs made the juice joint more authentic!

Alcohol labels adorn the walls of the juice joint!

Wanted posters!

Christmas lights and floating candles set the mood with low lighting

Corks and candy cigarettes!

Those famous people that have come before.  Signed pictures to adorn the walls.

Tablescape!

Up close tablescape with chocolate coins, feathers, and floating candles in Mason Jars!

The Menu!

The Drinks!!
We had a room for photos and made sure to have plenty of props available!

Since it was Rosie's Juice Joint, we had to have a signature cocktail!  And we went through almost 2 whole bottles of vodka!

A favor for the road!
That is just a brief summary of how we brought the 1920s Chicago Speakeasy to modern time Richmond, VA.

Travel Plans???

In a way it is funny, this blog started out as a way for me to track my travels and adventures and it has evolved into so much more than that.  But let's get back to basics here; where am I going this year???

Well if you have been reading along with me, you know that I have already been to NYC with some girlfriends and to Camp Willow Run, NC for a youth retreat just last weekend!

So what am I up to next?

* Next weekend, my friend Amanda and I are off to Orlando for a long weekend trip to take in Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.  I think we have plans to also make it to Downtown Disney at some point!

* Then in mid-March, I am spending a weekend at The Homestead in Hot springs, VA for a friend's wedding.

* April will bring with it a big trip, years in the works!  CJ and I have finally booked our 10 day Midwest trip.  The plan is to fly out mid-April and return 10 days later, hopefully after taking in at 10 Midwest states (Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin).  There is a slight chance, if we have enough time, that we will make it to Illinois too!

* In May, I am headed to Blacksburg, VA to see my friend, Sarah's new baby!

Then of course a few long weekend trips thrown in here and there.  Who knows what may get on the calendar???  (a trip to the beach?  a trip to Vermont?  only time will tell)

Where are you planning to travel to this year?
